Islamic Tourism according to Iran’s Cultural Heritage News Agency aims to encourage understanding and communication between people from different countries, cultural backgrounds and faiths. Respect for local beliefs and traditions is at its core. Naturally it includes religious tourism and visits to holy places. The annual Hajj pilgrimage to Meccais a prime example of Islamic Tourism. It also includes visits to discover ancient civilizations and to study their heritage culture and art. And travel to Islamic countries to tour their cities, for recreation and rest or even medical treatment. Islamic tourism should aspire to the ‘international Code of ethical tourism’ adopted in 1/10/1999 by the World Tourism Organization and all social classes should be able to participate freely. The conference is being supported by Iran’s Chamber of Commerce and Iran’s Cultural Heritage News Agency
